I don’t know why, but this number makes me feel excited.
I’ve never been so excited for the arrival of a new year.
Last year, I remember feeling so unbothered about the arrival of 2019. I mean, it is just a different year, right? Nothing changes. Unless you’re changing job, or moving to a new city, or going on a drastic weight-loss programme, how different can your year turn out to be?
But here’s the thing.. everything can change if you want it to. Because change happens in the mind first, before it happens anywhere else.
With New Year’s Day being the most popular time of the year for people to hit the proverbial ‘reset button’, it makes me wonder whether there is a logical explanation or hidden psychology behind the cliché phrase ‘New Year New Me’.
I’m not exactly sure what it is that motivates us to want to start fresh and set new goals for ourselves, but I do know for sure that we have an opportunity to get things right after all. We have the opportunity to trigger that very powerful “neuro-hormone” in our brains called dopamine.
And if there is one thing I’m sure about, it’s that I want my Dopamine levels to be high for the beginning of 2020. Honestly, I have been craving for something ‘new’ for so long. This year I’m setting one New Year’s Resolution for myself and that is to be more ORIGINAL.
As much as I am looking forward to ‘meeting’ 2020, I am also looking forward to 2020 ‘meeting’ the new me! This year I want to feel comfortable about showing the world who I really am. I want my true personality to reflect in my work and in my relationships. I want to speak up my mind and say what I truly believe and stand for, without worrying about what anyone is going to think about me. If I successfully find a way to be more ‘myself’, then a change in my lifestyle will naturally happen, and this change can only bring good things.
So, from now on, it’s not about being little miss perfect – it’s about being real. It’s not about getting the perfect final results – it’s about having more fun during the process of trying to.
This year be prepared to see a slight change in my Photography and my Blog. A change that will reveal parts of myself and my real life. I aim for my blogs to be more personalised and more about topics that I’m interested in and activities that I enjoy.
Every month, I’ll share a new blog that will be celebrating the best thing that happened in that month – whether it was an event, an accomplishment or even a lesson learned. This way I can look back and be grateful for everything life has given me, but also be motivated to set new milestones and look into the future with a smile on my face.
By the end of 2020, my website will have a completely different look and feel. It will be a summary of all the topics that truly matter to me and will portray all the faces and places that I have fallen in love with.
I’m waiting for you, 2020.
